(This was written night of Aug 13)
Backpack didn’t make it for me. Brent’s pack made it, but Frankfurt must have become too attached to my pack to send it all the way through to Madrid. I filed a claim with Spainair and it looks like it should be here by tomorrow….hopefully?! I’m actually not too worried about it. Surprisingly.
We check out of Pop Hostel at 11:30am tomorrow (I’m writing this at about 11pm on Wednesday night…not sure when I’ll have internet access to upload this.) Tomorrow night is the overnight train to Lisbon, so hopefully the pack will get to Spain before then. Otherwise, Spainair will ship it to the hostel in Lisbon.
Besides the missing luggage, all is well. Brent and I spent a few hours walking around Madrid and attempted to buy tickets at the train station this evening. Tomorrow’s agenda is showing Brent around the area where I lived when I studied here in Madrid a few summers back. Of course, we’ll have to head back to the amazing gelato place, Giangrossi’s. Then it’s off to explore Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol before we head to the station for our overnight train to Lisbon tomorrow evening. Brent has taken some amazing pictures so far and I’m still trying to get the hang of my camera settings.
The hostel here is pretty cool. The guy at the front desk has been very helpful and we’ve only met one other guy in our 6-person room who is from Milan, Italy. Looks like a few others have shown up, but it’s time to catch some zzzzz’s for us.
